California Soul Blend coffee blends are characterized by their dark, bold flavors, often featuring smoky, chocolatey notes, and are made from high-quality Arabica beans.
California Soul Blen coffee blends are ideal for those who enjoy a strong, bold cup of coffee. With a variety of brands and blends available, coffee enthusiasts can explore different flavor profiles and brewing methods to find their perfect cup. Whether you prefer whole beans or pre-ground options, there are plenty of choices to satisfy your coffee cravings.

California Soul Blend coffee is made by roasting beans at high temperatures (440-455°F or 227-235°C) until they reach a dark, oily surface. This process results in a deep brown color and a bold, intense flavor profile that includes strong roasted, smoky, and chocolate notes.

The flavor is typically described as rich and robust, with a bittersweet taste and low acidity. The roasting process often masks the original flavors of the beans, focusing instead on the caramelized and slightly burnt notes.

California Soul Blend coffee can be brewed using various methods, including French press, espresso machines, and cold brew. Each method can highlight different aspects of the coffee's flavor.

Coffee

Preparation step by step

Fill in coffee beans

Only add the beans to the container of your grinder just before grinding. Use only a few beans and prefer to refill later.

Set the grind

Set the grinding degree. Use the finest setting for Turkish mocha. It should be as fine as powdered sugar, since the coffee grounds are poured in as well. The grind for espresso from a portafilter is only slightly coarser. For preparation with the Aeropress, the grind should be medium fine. Mocha pots and hand filters require a medium grind. This is reminiscent of fine sand. For the Syphon and the Chemex, an even coarser grind is required for the coffee. It corresponds comparatively to table coffee. The grind for the Karlovy Vary pot and French press coffee is the coarsest.

Grind coffee

Then switch on the grinder. Grind only as much coffee as you need at the moment and use it right away. You are assured of an aromatic coffee.

Cleaning

You should clean both the electric coffee grinder and the hand grinder occasionally, as the fats in the coffee beans settle and oxidize. Over time, a rancid smell develops. For cleaning, it is best to buy a special cleaning granulate that you can grind like coffee beans. It is odorless and absorbs the fats. Residues are also removed during such cleaning, so that the coffee grind is not distorted.

  • Optimal Grind Size for Espresso

On one end of the spectrum is the super fine grind for espresso, where you’ll find connoisseurs making minute adjustments to brew the perfect cup with their espresso machine.

Remember how grinding coffee creates a greater surface area for oxidation and moisture to attack? Well, the same thing applies to water and extraction.

The finer the coffee grind — and the tinier the coffee particles — the higher the proportion of your beans that comes into contact with the water. Thanks to the bigger surface area, the water fully extracts the coffee in less time. By the same token, water flows more slowly through small, densely packed particles.

When making espresso, very finely ground coffee is tamped into a compact puck to resist the pump pressure that drives the water through the coffee grinds. The force of the water penetrates the coffee’s cell walls resulting in a bolder brew.

    More details:

Medium ground coffee is also ideally suited for the drip method: picking the correct drip coffee grind size will result in a perfect balance of extraction and flow rate, preventing under and over-extraction.

The ultimate goal is optimal coffee extraction, which best happens when you choose a grind size that matches your brewing method.
